What's a beacon and how does it work?

A beacon is a device that uses the Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) protocol to transmit small amounts of data using very little power.

This data includes information that identifies each beacon. The identifiers of a beacon are unique and this makes it possible to identify the vehicle in which the beacon is installed.
