Driving scores are calculated from the variables measured with the smartphone's sensors. They are complemented by contextualization variables and an appreciation of the conditions of the trip. For each trip, the scores are contextualized according to the driving context.
Our road context analysis engines are designed to classify the trip based on the measurement of travel speed. The application knows how to recognize:
- traffic jams,
- dense or fluid urban areas,
- extra-urban areas and expressways.
In addition to the representative contextualization of the road flow, we also use the topographical characteristics of the roads traveled from cartographic data. Contextualization is essential to assess the performance of drivers using the same roads.
The app also takes into account the conditions of the trip: weather, day/night, winding road, slope, travel time. All these factors are likely to affect the vehicle's energy consumption and do not present the same difficulties for the driver.
